At last Friday's session at Sebonac Inlet I had a conversation with Sam about heavy wetsuits and winter windsurfing. When I mentioned that I found a heavy wetsuit to be sufficient in the ocean even when the bays demanded a drysuit, he was surprised to learn that at this time of the year the ocean was the warmer sailing environment.
I understood completely, having only learned this myself a few years ago. But yes, the ocean holds the heat longer and is helped out by the Gulf Stream, and despite how bleak it can look the ocean offers warmer windsurfing.
This was the topic of one of the earliest posts on the Peconic Puffin, coming right after the post with supermodel Gisele Bundchen windsurfing in a bikini. She's preggers these days and probably not getting much TOW.
