Bust a move in 8 knots. Bust 'em in 6.
In the current edition of Windsurfing Magazine Matt Pritchard says toss wind minimums for freestyle contests. Get out bigger sails, or switch to big boards and spin your sails the way freestyle was done in the old days.
These aren't the old days, of course, which is why you can catch plenty of new-school nonplaning freestyle (as well as old school) in the fine clip above by Mike Stefanski, shot right off the beach in Bonaire.
In the states, ABK clinics teach this stuff beginning with the most basic moves. If you want to take a look at some basic freestyle done slowly, check out ClewFirst.com.
Anyone can do this stuff. All it takes is a board, a sail, and less than ten knots of wind. Is that hard to find?
