The video above is an encore presentation of a clip I shot last November in Bonaire.
P.S. Number of emails I've received from Peconic Jeff since the last time we had planing conditions, identifying potential good days that have failed to appear? Five. It's not Jeff's fault...we're just all desperate.
Ha, now I know you are getting delirious from lack of wind! My latest reports downplayed last week's coastal storms, and at best were titled "glimmer of hope". Besides, I've seen reports of planing 5.9 conditions on the 12th in Shirley, and yesterday at Heckscher Mike Burns planed 5.9/5.3 while George Marr rode 5.5.
Meanwhile, the Great South Bay meter is pushing 20 as of 4pm today! Hopefully you're getting in some planing time to ease the desperation! ;)

Me delirious? I say "ha" to you! Usually I just reprint your emails as posts (the "E-mail from Peconic Jeff" series) but in your wind-starved hysteria you are using language unfit for my blog readers. And don't even get me started on your IM's...the ravings of a madman!
I am in the city. If there's wind at Hecksher (and if we believe the King of the East there always is) then I hope some good people are enjoying it. By the time I get back on the water I'll need to take jibing lessons.

Yes, indeed there was good wind at Heck both Sunday and Monday (8/18). I sailed on a 6.2 both days, but lots of people were on slightly smaller stuff. So, yes, planing still does happen. Finally!!

If it's gonna be windy somewhere on the Island on a SW, it'll be Heckscher. I sailed 5.9/ 5.3 yesterday, and today was 5.3 all day for me. There were lots of guys on small 5's out there today. I could have been on the 4.7 at the end. Lets hope we don't have to wait so long for the next windy day.
