And yesterday it was CD and Fisherman. Which seems unfair because they were both behaving so well...
The call for the NW blow was Iron Pier. Frank, Scott, Peconic Jeff and the Wolf caught some 4.7 action early, but by the time CD arrived (followed by Fisherman and myself) it appeared to have died. As we bemoaned our windless fate Fisherman produced his girlfriend's dog, who he's been babysitting to earn brownie points. CD blew right past brownie points when he produced cubes of a mysterious substance wrapped in aluminum foil, which turned out to be some killer fudge made by his sister. He gave me two cubes. "Eat one now, so you know how good it is," instructed CD "and save the other one for after you sail."
I obeyed.
We sat around for about half an hour with little wind to show for it. The Wolf headed back out in search of a gust, whilst Scott and Frank packed it up and Fisherman and CD left having never rigged. I'd driven all that way, and even though I didn't have a 5.5 (it having been torn up at Ponquogue the day before) I rigged a 5.0, stuck it on my big board (JP 109) and gave it a shot.
Within five minutes I was well powered. Within fifteen minutes I needed a smaller board.
And so it was that Jeff, the Wolf and I had a good session tearing it up at the Pier, while good men went home dry. And I had fudge waiting for me.
(How cool is this photo by Jeff? He's been experimenting with a flexible camera mount and a decent waterproof camera to shoot stills and video, and getting worthy results. That's the two of us outbound at the Pier.)
Nice shot! Nice jump! And are those gloves or mitts that Peconic Jeff is wearing? They look cool. You guys are definitely dialed in for cold weather sailing.

Hi James, those are 2mm neoprene Glacier Gloves (see: product # 002HBL) that I got from Jon Ford at Windsurfing Hamptons. I prefer them over the Dakine cold water mitts for both warmth and dexterity. My last pair lasted about a year.
Btw, that photo is just a still - I have a minute or two of footage from this day that I hope to upload later today or tomorrow (I'll post a link here).
