It's April, it's 60-something degrees out, and I'm thinking I might rig a 5.5 and work on lightwind freestyle next weekend (yeah the water will be cold but I haven't shredded in ages...need to get the old boom in my hand!) With a possible date with my longboard looming, Pierre comes to mind. If you don't know Pierre he's the guy turning twisted tricks on a longboard...the video looks like it's from yesteryear but the guy is doing this stuff en oh doubleyou NOW. He preaches the gospel of Grab Some Ancient Gear and Tear It Up, and recently sent me a bunch of video clips illustrating the point. Check these out and let me know if you're feeling it. Ladies and Gentlemen: The Pierre Show!

Thanks for posting Mr. Puffin. The clips actually come out better on your blog than on YouTube ;)
About the gear: I was also using for the clips above a brand new Starboard SUP 12' with a brand new Aussie OD Windsurfer sail - for instance at 0:15 of the bottom flick. I'll try spend more time this summer assessing those modern bits for longboard freestyling...
Lightwind: I insist that one can do nearly all of those moves up to about 20 knots. Actually, the railride requires more wind - difficult in lesser winds.
But all in all, good old inexpensive fun...
The trick is in the harness - try spot one ;)
Cheers.
