Straight up: Since an okay day at the Bowl on April 18th, I’ve had two count ‘em two days of planing windsurfing. Ridiculosa. If it weren’t for stand up paddling I’d have no reason to own a wetsuit.
Sunday I put a 5.5 on my old Techno and did some light wind freestyle in Davis Creek. When it’s blowing 5 knots a fin-first clew-first upwind 360 is no big deal.
Gotta get my thrills wherever I can find them.
(I am clinging to the memory of Peconic Puffin's past...back when it was a weekly print rag the June headlines usually whined, while just about every July had a "Summer Shortboarding" issue. Fingers are crossed for next month!)
Too bad, I feel the same way. I planed with a 7.5 last Wednesday, and a bit on Saturday (Pacer 300 with 9.5), and then on Sunday (Pacer 300/7.5). Sunday late PM Heckscher blew UP and I was blown off the water on my 133/7.5. A couple of other guys stayed out on 6.5's and had a great time for a little while. If it wasn't so late, I would have rigged my 102/5.5 and would have had a great time.
But, I agree, not nearly enough planing time lately. Just picked up a Fanatic Megacat, that's one why to extend sailable days.

If you didn't have SUPing, you'd have major withdrawal symptoms like me (symtpoms include but are not limited to: countless hours spent surfing the web for new videos, looking at new equipment, lack of sleep, anger, frustration, depression...) I wonder if those depression medications would work for the time when we have weeks without planable wind. I have sailed twice here since the fall. I'll be out east this weekend. If you go SUPing, and if John Ford rents them, let me know where you're going.
