The Bowl...She is now a Dish

"Big shift in beach and sandbars, waves aren't showing up so well. The amount of sand on the beach at the Bowl is huge, biggest we've seen. Then the shoreline from Ponquogue to Quogue runs straight with hardly any points."

This is the report on the Bowl from Peconic Jeff.   Such is what the non-winter has done to one of our premiere sailing spots. 

Will it stay this way?

Will we really have no joyous waves on rainy Easterly days?

Wherest shall chimps, puffins and countrymen ply their waveliness should things not be right?

We shall see.

Whitecap City at Sebonac

I missed it, but Peconic Jeff, Dr. Pain, Scott and the Wolf reveled in 4.2 conditions.  Jeff reports that CD came by to do paperwork.

Nine Sails

My friend Mass has a new home on the bay.   He wants to be able to sail at a moment's notice should a whitecap present itself, so he has rigged.   Can you say "nice quiver"?

Pi Day in my Elevator

Our New York apartment's elevator ID number is Pi to four decimal points (if you imagine a decimal point inserted.)   I've been waiting almost a year to share this fact.  But 3.14 is here!

Shoulder problems clearly have left me with not enough windsurfing to blab about.

No Ice Sailing for Long Island this Year

With only two weeks left to the winter, medoubts that the iceboards will be seen out east this season. Bellport and Mecox are not going to freeze over... ("SCREECH!!!" I hear varied disembodied friends and poltergeists shreiking. "What the heck are you doing...trying to JINX it? Are you a goshdarn evil GROUNDHOG? Dude...shut up!") Ahem. As I was saying, we are not likely to get sufficient ice in what's left of this Very Warm Winter. A blizzard in April perhaps (my dentist predicts thus) but no ice sailing. The Wolf's Shopping Cart, Jeff Slecta's collection of ice rides...they shall not carve. To fill the void, Shelter Island windsurfer Chris sent me a link to this video, shot in New Hampshire. These guys are going fast. As I always think when I'm on the ice, where are the brakes?

Wakeboarding Alaska (Isn't it a bit cold for this?)

With the bulk of the Puffin/Wind Chimp community up north snowboarding at CD's place (wish I coulda made it!) I have no tales of derring-do (or doofus do) of my own to share.
